First-Year Students

First-Year Advisement

We offer tailored advisement for all first-year students during their first semester and second semester. During these advisement sessions, you will discuss general education requirements, and learn about college policies and course options. To truly make the most of your college experience, connect to campus both academically and socially!

First-Year Seminars

Your First-Year Seminar (FYS) is an interactive, hands-on class in which you will work closely with your professor and classmates to explore how course topics relate to your own experiences and those of your peers.

First-Year Reserved Courses

The Center for Academic Advisement and Student Success collaborates with academic departments to reserve seats/courses for first year students. Seats/courses are reserved to ensure that first-year students have the opportunity to enroll in a minimum of 15 credits.
